THE WATERDEEP LETTERS #4

Dear Davarius,

I write to you with a heavy heart, burdened by the weight of recent events that have shaken the very foundations of our faith. It pains me to inform you that Lathander, the Morninglord, the one we have turned to in times of joy and sorrow, seems to have withdrawn His divine presence. The warmth of His light that once embraced us feels distant and cold, leaving us lost and bewildered.

But, my friend, the disheartening truth does not end with Lathander’s absence alone. It seems that all the gods have vanished from our midst. Their divine voices, once a source of guidance and solace, have fallen silent. The pantheon of the Realms has plunged into a disquieting silence, leaving the faithful without the comforting assurance of divine intervention.

We have fervently offered prayers, beseeching the gods for answers, for a glimmer of hope in these trying times. Yet, our pleas go unanswered, echoing back as hollow whispers. The temples stand empty, bereft of divine presence, and the once fervent congregations are left bewildered and questioning.

It is a time of uncertainty, my friend, as our faith is put to the ultimate test. We grapple with doubt and fear, wondering if the gods have abandoned us or if some insidious force has severed the connection between our mortal realm and the divine.

In these dark moments, we must not lose hope entirely. We must remember the teachings of Lathander, of the dawn’s inevitable arrival after the darkest of nights. Perhaps this is a trial—a test of our faith and resilience. It falls upon us, the faithful, to carry the light of our beliefs, even when the gods themselves remain hidden.

We must come together, my friend, to support one another during this spiritual crisis. Our bonds of friendship and shared devotion can help sustain us through these troubling times. Let us gather, not only to pray but to seek solace in each other’s company, to remind ourselves of the virtues and principles that our faith espouses.

Though the gods may be silent, we must strive to embody the ideals they once represented. Let us be beacons of hope and compassion, spreading kindness and love in a world shrouded in uncertainty. Together, we can weather this storm and emerge stronger on the other side, whether the gods return to us or not.

I pray that our paths may cross soon, my dear friend, so that we may find solace in our shared journey. Until then, hold onto your faith, even as it trembles, and know that you are not alone in this trial. We shall face this darkness together, trusting that the dawn will one day break upon us once more.

With faith and friendship,

Antari Dela
